It always amazes me that mostly every piece in my moms wardrobe has a story behind it. Especially the older ones, that have been on this planet well before me and can be called true vintage pieces. For example this knit (long awaited hand me down by the way), bought in Soviet times, when pieces coming in from West were a real treasure requiring careful maintenance not just because of the price, but because of the values and world it represented. Jeans were a hard piece to find and people bought purchase bags for crazy prices just to be "in touch" with the outside world and be hip and fancy. It has changed dramatically; we now can buy everything our heart desires, but does the pieces we buy in a flash has any value in the long run? And it seems that even more people have been thinking about this, as this The Economist article suggests. Substance slowly is winning over style.
